Services: Content design, information architecture, UX writing
Overview: Before this project, customers had to fill out paper forms with a pen or pencil to order a custom cake at a Sam’s Club bakery. We were tasked with digitizing that experience. Our goal was to introduce a tablet kiosk pilot that would reduce paper consumption, as well as create an experience that was more consistent for associates and convenient for members.
During this project, we had a pattern library, but we didn’t yet have established patterns for brick and mortar kiosk experiences like this one. We were also rebranding at that time. I collaborated closely with the team as the project’s sole content designer to balance existing guidelines with exploring new possibilities, evolving information architecture, hierarchy, and voice and tone.
